On one of the slides this morning the fleet numbers for end 2017 were as follows: 10 A330, 22 A319, 12 A320, 7 wetleases. If the 12 A320 figure is correct, it means there will be a further 2 A320 joining this year (on top of SNI).

Ok, thanks. It seems I am one of those forum members that should read the homepage more often.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The goal for 2018 is a loadfactor of 80%, significantly higher than the current loadfactor of 75%.The replacement of planes already provides more capacity in these 2 years, so to reach that goal the number of passengers needs to grow even more. Then it only makes sense to not further add capacity by adding planes as a 2.5% increase of the loadfactor per year is already challenging, and adding capacity makes an increase of the loadfactor more difficult.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
The statement "no fleet expansion after 2017" was corrected later. It is still expected that one long haul aircraft will be added each year.Jetter wrote: ↑16 Mar 2017, 18:40The goal for 2018 is a loadfactor of 80%, significantly higher than the current loadfactor of 75%.The replacement of planes already provides more capacity in these 2 years, so to reach that goal the number of passengers needs to grow even more. What a disappointing result...The statement "no fleet expansion after 2017" was corrected later. It is still expected that one long haul aircraft will be added each year.
Not one word about replacing the ageing fleet by new A330neo's or second hand LH A330/340's...
Once again, a too cautious step towards a (too) slow replacement of the worn down A330 fleet...
And thinking that at the same time, Swiss is having a brand new fleet of 777-300's...

I don't understand how people see this sort of cautious communication as a true indication of the work being done behind the scenes... SN confirmed several times that they are working on the initial phase of the long haul fleet replacement (7 aircraft that will be end of lease in an 11 month period between late 2018 and late 2019). Everything is om track to reach that fleet roll-over. Detailed communication about the final decisions will be done at the appropriate time.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Lets hope SN will get brand new aircraft to replace the old A330. They have showed that they can deliver and receiving another bunch of second hand aircraft would be a slap in the face of the company and the staff for all the efforts they made.RoMax wrote: ↑17 Mar 2017, 08:22I don't understand how people see this sort of cautious communication as a true indication of the work being done behind the scenes... Wouldn't understand why everyone in the group gets brand new aircraft and SN wouldn't....
After all LH got SN for a scratch so no need for a big ROI

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
All Eurowings' A330 are also 2nd hand (former EVA and Qatar), there are another 2 frames joining soon, both are ex-Turkish (and >10y old). And it's not like Austrian is operating brand new aircraft either.
I'd rather say: the only airlines in the LH Group that are receiving brand new aircraft are LH and LX.
I don't want to sound offensive, but what Lufthansa has paid for SN Airholding has really nothing to do with ROI or fleet renewal.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Well let's see what LH will do to replace Austrian's long haul fleet (which is due) and Eurowings long haul fleet (when it will be due). I guess it would be better to order a larger number of aircraft for several entities.DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑17 Mar 2017, 19:39All Eurowings' A330 are also 2nd hand (former EVA and Qatar), there are another 2 frames joining soon, both are ex-Turkish (and >10y old).
