Red Arrows crash at Valley UK

Post by cathay belgium »

Hi,

Read this breaking news on a website page of facebook , just a copy/paste of the Airshows.be page :

BREAKING NEWS !

One of the Red Arrows aircraft, Red 3, has crashed during training at RAF Valley. Two people were on board of the aircraft, who bothejected.

The crash happened shortlby before 13.30 local time (14.30 CET).

An Air Ambulance was called to the crash site.

Info is still very scarse, but a possible cause is a bird strike. An eyewitness saw the aircraft crash on the RAF Valley runway and burst into flames.

No information yet on the exact condition of the crew of two. One report indicates the pilot is ok, but that 3 bystanders were injured.
An eyewitness told reporters that she saw only one parachute.

More news will follow.

Over the last hours I have found and collected several "newsbits" plus links to images/videos
at

Instead of repeating them all here I suggest to interested readers to just click on the link above.

Apparently there were two ejections, but this does not mean there also two "good chutes"... :|
The condition of both occupants is still not known.

who was a passenger in the Hawk now confirmed killed... :(

Pilot is still being treated for his injuries in hospital:

Red Arrows engineer dies after jet crash at RAF Valley on Anglesey

An engineer has died after an aircraft used by the Red Arrows display team crashed at RAF Valley on Anglesey.

The RAF confirmed the pilot of the Hawk aircraft survived and was receiving treatment in hospital.

Eyewitnesses had reported that only one person had ejected from the jet before it crashed and burst into flames.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene at about 13:30 GMT on Tuesday but it was later confirmed that the engineer had died.

Reading a statement at the RAF base, Group Captain Nick Tucker-Lowe family said their family had been informed and had asked for 24 hours grace before more details were released.

The pilot was receiving medical care, he added.
