So he will be in BRU for around 10 days before he will enter service. What will happen with him during that period: test/training flights, charter flights, nothing, ...?

At KLM each aircraft first receives the post-delivery modifications before it takes the sky (usually done at AMS, but sometimes at the manyfacturer). This involves installing seats, etc. Don't know of SN has a similar policy.

When and where is it parked?
Checked all the available systems, but did not found any flight arriving with reg OO-SFV. Nor did I see a A330 standing at Sabena Technics (at 2230lt).

Kind regards,

Hi all,

Just received this message from Brussels Airlines:
Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to welcome our 5th A330, immatriculated OO-SFV, this afternoon in Brussels!

...

We expect the aircraft to land at 15.15 on runway 25R, from where it will taxi all the way to the end, so that you can admire it!

...

Next Monday, 5 July, this additional A330 will operate the very first Brussels Airlines flight to Accra.

Welcome OO-SFV to our fleet!
My pleasure,

Lamal

No they are not new seats... Old Sabena seats with new leather covers. Personal IFE not working at the moment, personal digeplayers will be foreseen in C class. (IFE should be up and running in the next week) New seats will be installed in May 2011...

I suppose the whole A330 fleet will get these new seats? And I suppose SN will install IFE in both business and economy?

The plan for now is, and I stress that this might still change, new C class seats for the whole A330 fleet, expansion of the C class section from 30 to 42 seats with AVOD and installation of personal IFE in Y class.

So 12 more C class seats, so two rows more. What will be the effect on the amount of economy seats? Is the business clas of SN so succesfull that they can even expand it? But it looks good: new seats with AVOD in C class and IFE in Y class.

That will be about 5 Y class rows less (4 rows of 8 seats and 1 row of 7 seats) in total 39 seats. So version might be C 42 Y 215

Old seats in a newly arrived aircraft. I presume this aircraft will not only fly to the four new destinations in Africa and that b.air will rotate it with its other A330s. If this is the case, I can only say : avoid b.air to Africa until the new seats have been installed on the newly arrived aircraft or one may end up paying a lot in Business class certainly, for an outdated product. :(

It will fly SN0257 tommorow, the inaugural flight to ACC ;)

PS: "Old" doenst mean bad. I do still prefer old business seats compared to the newer lie flat seats. Therefore I'll be happy when UA deploys the 777 again on the BRU-IAD route ;)

Interesting to note SN might return to the 42C seat configuration they once had, prior to the merger with VEX.

I suppose most here won't remember, but the business class compartiment on the A330s was reduced to just 30 seats a couple of years ago in the merger process by one of the 'red' managers, obsessed with low fare strategies!

I can very well image the fact SN now being a STAR airline and preferred codeshare partner of LH on Africa, is putting some strain on our already very small business class. Even before LH came onboard, some of our destinations like FIH were notoriously difficult to get a C class seat on, if not booked months in advance!
