Well I guess this has to do only with airline policy. On Lufthansa for example, the A320 has always a wider middle seat, and nevertheless, the aisle is wide enough. And legroom can be changed at will on every Boeing or Airbus aircraft.

it seems you had a nice flight,

in my personal opinion I find the airbus 320 more spacious than the B738, but that's personal...

The A319/A320 aircraft are much more comfortable than the 737. I have been in the 737-300, -400 and -500 and personally I think it is a bloody horrid aircraft whatever the variant.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.
