Package by air cargo to Bucharest, Romania ?

Post by lowrider2025 »

Hello,

We are 2 students leaving for Bucharest, Romania ( http://international.mct.nu/forum )on the 21st of february for 3months(back 28th of may). As we can only take 20kg of luggage with us aboard our passenger flight we are looking for a (cheap)way to send a package of around 40-50kg to Bucharest OTP by air cargo(or train,or something else). But it would off course be a lot easier if it could arrive at about the same hour we arrive there. Would someone have a list of air cargo companies that deliver cargo from Brussels To Bucharest OTP and back or recommend a company that delivers good value for money. The package would mainly contain clothes, shoes and so on, because putting notebooks or digital cameras in there, I wouldn't trust it.

Thanks a lot beforehand for your answer and advice.

Kind regards and season's greetings to you and yours ho ho ho :D,

Try Gouden Gids

Trucking/ground transport will probably be cheapest.

I myself only have experience with ups,dhl and so on and that mostly for packages coming/going no further than the Netherlands or Germany. Now I have been checking their site and to send a package of about 40kg they would charge about 550 euros one-way, I find that a tad too high to my liking  . I hope someone else has some experience shipping some packages to eastern europe and tell us about it. A big disadvantage also is that Romania isn't a member of EU yet, so that makes it more expensive too.

Kind regards,

Tim

Thanks a lot, that was a very usefull answer indeed  . Maybe I'll indeed try through a romanian trucker as one of my family members is a member of the harbour police in Ostend. But I'll have a look at Danzas, just in case.
Thanks again.

That's Tarom RO 372 BRU 11:50 OTP 15:30 Non-stop 733 2h40min
And RO 371 OTP 09:05 BRU 10:55 Non-stop 733 2h50min

Depending the airline you choose you'll pay a different fare, depending on the airport a different tax.:
Departing from BRU:
KLM 218,00 EUR + 102,24 EUR taks = 320,24 EUR (Economy)
Swiss 263,00 EUR + 60,36 EUR taks = 323,36 EUR (Economy)
Lufthansa 264,00 EUR + 112,57 EUR taks = 376,57 EUR (Economy)
Air France ??,00 EUR + 49,25 EUR taks = by train to CDG.
In Student Fare:
KLM 152,00 EUR + 102,24 EUR = 254,24 EUR
Czech Airlines 200,00 EUR + tax (Flight are already fully booked on these dates!
Departing from AMS:
KLM 312,00 EUR + 64,56 EUR = 376,56 EUR
Air France 312,00 EUR + 107,04 EUR = 419,04 EUR
Swiss 325,00 EUR + 64,54 EUR = 389,54 EUR
Departing from PAR:
KLM 250,00 EUR + 99,96 EUR = 349,96 EUR
Swiss 356,00 EUR + 66,71 EUR = 422,71 EUR

KLM is more expensive out of AMS then out of BRU or PAR :!:
AF is cheaper out of AMS than out of BRU :!:
Swiss is cheaper out of BRU :!:

1- In fact your travel budget would be some 40% taxes, and only 60% real travel expenses.
2- Your visit to parochial BRU Airport is expensive.

Thanks a lot for the effort in looking up the air fares for us, but we already booked our flight through airstop, we paid 350 euro in total for the swiss option departing from BRU(0730-ZURICH:0845-BUCH-OTP:1305) (I paid some 10euro administrative costs by booking at the airstop office), I also noticed only czech airlines provided student fares, as an ignorant non frequent flyer, I had more confidence in a swiss airline than the czech.I used multiple sites to check for prices, I noticed that sometimes there were some differences in price, why...I don't know. But SN30952,again, thanks a lot for the effort you put in looking this up...really appreciate it ;).

Kind regards,

Tim
