RTM - LCY / LCY - RTM on VLM Fokker 50

Post by PH-WSN »

RTM - Rotterdam Airport ( Zestienhoven ) to LCY London City Airport v.v.

Type of plane: Fokker F27-mk050 (Fokker 50)
Duration: about one hour and twenty minutes (i know that a BAe 146 or Fokker 70 does it faster, but hey whats 15 minutes on a life time!)
Comfort: Pretty good for a commuter aircraft, 2+2 abreast, 50 pax total
Service: Good, at check-in, in flight and at luggage return. No lost bags and no hassle with check-in luggage.
Food: A small breakfast, tasted okay, better then other carriers on this stretch.

I could recommend VLM to anyone. LCY airport has some minor problems with the new airport computer system, so checking in late, isn't that wise. However BAA is tackling the bugs as we speak... I hope that VLM stays on this route. Basiq air, a LCC, has started a cheap service to LGW on 738's from RTM

Interesting. I have travelled alot with VLM and have found their four abreast Fokker 50 (some with leather seats, some without) to be very comfortable, with 32" pitch, not bad for a small aircraft.

London City Airport is nothing to do with BAA however.

I guess that the VLM fan known as Comet was not disappointed.

However, the LCY fan known as Comet might not appreciate as much ;-)

The VLM fan known as Comet was very interested. I would have liked a little more detail about the aircraft, such as registrations to see if they were the same ones I've flown in (both ways LCY-BRU on OO-VLQ, LCY-ANR on OO-VLV and ANR-LCY on OO-VLS). VLQ and VLS had fabric seats inside, but VLV was very nice, all leather throughout, and very comfortable.

I was interested to read about the issues with LCY. When I was last there the problems with the computer were not apparent and the check in was as efficient as ever (LCY is famous for its efficiency).
