A big trip through Asia for leisure. Do you have some more informations about Air Asia? That will be the first time i fly with this company.

The Air Asia's cabin crews r really nice, they r friendly. However their ground staffs in all airports around Malaysia r VERY VERY rude and useless.

Hi Concorde777steward,

Thank you very much for informations.
Can you give me some more informations about regulary delayed or not? If AIR ASIA is very strict about luggage limits?
Do you often fly on Air Asia?

Thanks

Hi Firrech,

Did u mean the carry-on baggage ? well, i'm not sure about that now, but they r a low-cost carrier , so i think they r pretty strict about that. I just noticed it, u r on FD (Air Asia Thai), not on AK (Air Asia). May be the ground staffs in Thailand will be nice.

Yes, they got a serious problem about the delayed flights but they r getting better now. On-time performance for last week was 81%.

I used to be their regular customer before the took-over in 2001 - early 2002. As i said before, cabin crews r charming and friendly, but ground staffs  .

if your flight is less than 1 hour 15 minutes, u may fly with them, but if it's over 1 hour 15 minutes, better not. cramped seating (29") and they charged USD0.79 just for a bottle of water and USD1.05 for a can of coca-cola. May be it is very cheap for u guys but not for Malaysian. I can get a bottle of water for just USD0.18 and USD0.26 for a can of coca-cola in a supermarket in the town.

I always fly with Malaysia Airlines now because my flight between Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur will take 2.30 hours on B737-400 and 2.05 hours on A330-200, A330-300, B777-200ER, B747-400. MAS served a full hot meal on this flight and if u r gonna to fly on this route, make sure u ask for the A330-300, B777-200ER or B747-400 because they have the AA's "MORE ROOM THROUGHOUT COACH" features on these aircrafts.

This was the menu on my MAY flight from Kuala Lumpur back to Kota Kinabalu.

Appetizer:
Potato salad with roast chicken

Entree:
Chicken Rendang
Or
Fish Oriental Style

Fruit Tartlet

Chocolate - Kit Kat

Bread Roll - Butter

A round-trip ticket between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu (YEE30) will cost u just USD187.11 including all applicable surcharges and taxes.
We have many beautiful beaches in Kota Kinabalu. We also have the largest flower (Rafflesia) in the world and the highest mountain (Gunung Kinabalu) in Southeast Asia. U may live in Shangri-la Beach resort, Pan Pacific Sutera or Hyatt Regency hotel in Kota Kinabalu, very near to the airport. All of them r 5-star hotel but Hyatt Regency is quite old. There are more than 60 Malaysia Airlines' cabin crews/pilots stay in that hotel everyday.

If you like to drink, may be you should go to Labuan (in East Malaysia, near Kota Kinabalu). It's a tax-free port, a can of beer (Anchor, Danish, Carlsberg, Tiger etc.) will only cost u USD0.39.

If you like to gamble, Genting Highlands is the perfect place for you. The place is quite beautiful, it has the LARGEST CASINO in Southeast Asia.

Make sure you have your passport with you if u want to go to East Malaysia from the Peninsula Malaysia because they will check your passport. Even West Malaysian have to show their passport if they want to stay in East Malaysia for more than 3 MONTHS. Very weird, right ? Every flights arriving from the Peninsula Malaysia are counted as an INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT.

Now back to the luggage, if on MH, u can carry as many bags as u like into the aircraft. I've seen many people carrying more than 4 BIG BAGS per person into the aircraft. .Malaysia Airlines is not strict about the luggage/carry-on baggage.

Hope you will enjoy your trips in southeast asia.

Hi, Firrech,

It's good to hear that u like Malaysia.
No, no, no, your English is much better than mine. It's shame to tell people that i already starting to learn English at the age of 4 but i still can't speak it fluently or pronounce it correctly.

As for my 2004 flights, there have been a lot of changes and additions since I made my first input in this thread: 5 flights to Manchester, 2 flights to Franffurt, the flights to Lanzarote and Barcelona,...

Next week end I am going for a 4-day city trip to Warsaw via MUC (outbound) and VIE (return). Four flights, four airlines :) :

Air Dolomiti (BRU-MUC: a surprise to see that LH subsidiary on that route)
Lufthansa (MUC-WAW)
LOT (WAW-VIE)
Austrian (VIE-BRU)

I already flew on the 15th of May NRN-SXF towards the ILA 2004, and the same day I headed back SXF-NRN. 8)
The aircraft was a V-Bird A320.

On July the 22, I will fly HAM-RIX on Air Baltic, and the return trip will be on the 26th of July, also on Air Baltic. The equipment both ways will be an Avro RJ70 Avroliner, which will be my first flight on the type and on a Regional Jet overall. So I am looking forward to this trip. :D

And maybe there are more flights ahead of me this year, let's see what the future brings.

Finally i managed to book my first flights for the year! On the 17th of August, i'll go to katowice from Charleroi with Air Polonia (my first low cost experience) and then i'll come back from Warsaw on the 30th of August with SNBA (best buy ticket).

Then somewhere at the end of september, i should go back to Warsaw, but no tickets are booked yet. And with Christmas again to Poland, but probably Poznan or Katowice with Air Polonia (best would be to Wroclaw, but then i need to go to Paris for direct flights).

That's about it for me this year, i guess, hopefully next year, i'll travel to some further destinations 8) .

Anyway, as the SNBA flight is more then 2h, i hope to get a nice hot meal :) .

Greets,

Pieter

@flybe

May we expect some trip reports?

Also don't forget that from 15 September Wizz Air also flies daily from Charleroi to Warsaw.
