VIP welcome for the 2 000 000th passenger in 2014

For the second year of its history, Luxembourg airport reached the milestone of two million annual passengers. This performance has been achieved as early as mid-October, one and a half months earlier than in 2013. It is explained by a very fast increase of passenger numbers, which grew by about 12 % so far this year compared to last year.

lux-Airport reserved a VIP welcome to the 2 000 000th passenger and his accompanying person, and prepared a program of festivities for them after their arrival. A couple of young Germans, Katharina and Normen (32 and 34), living in Essen, got the surprise back from their holidays in New York. A private limousine was waiting for them at the exit of the airport for a VIP transfer towards the CK-Sportcenter in Kockelscheuer, where the women tennis open of Luxembourg currently takes place.

They were led towards a VIP box put at their disposal by lux-Airport and were so able to follow the matches and extend their holidays in a very unexpected way. A romantic dinner enclosed this day rich in emotions.

Johan Vanneste, CEO of lux-Airport, said: "We are very happy to obtain this result so early in the year. lux-Airport is playing a more and more important role as a gateway of the ‘Grande Region’, as shown today by our hosts coming from Germany. We see in particular our new car park offer as a key argument: it is now possible to park three days on the new parking ‘Economy’ for only 15 euros and one week for only 35 euros. For passenger drop-off we also maintained a free car park of 15 minutes on the short-term ‘Kiss&Fly’, the closest car park to the terminal, which makes a difference with many of comparable airports in the region.
