Wizz Air: major expansion and 25% growth in Poland in 2015

Post by sn26567 »

Further 2 based aircraft and 5 new routes

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe*, today announced further expansion in Poland. This news follows the announcement of the fifth based aircraft and opening of 8 new routes in Warsaw just three weeks ago. The airline will deploy 2 new aircraft in Katowice and Poznan, bringing its fleet in Poland to 18 Airbus A320, representing 25% capacity growth in 2015 year-on-year. The 5th Katowice and 2nd Poznan based aircraft will be delivered on 29 March on 21 May, respectively. Wizz Air also announced 5 new services starting in early 2015 from Gdansk to Molde (Norway) and Frankfurt Hahn, from Katowice to Belfast, from Poznan to Malmo and from Lublin to Stockholm Skvasta.

With these new services Wizz Air is now offering a combined total of 103 routes to 47 destinations from its 7 Polish airports. The airline has also increased frequencies on some of the most popular routes across its Polish network.

Wizz Air’s major expansion in the capital city and the Polish regions will further stimulate the job market in the aviation and tourism sectors with more visitors now able to travel to Poland on Wizz Air’s low fare services. Tickets on Wizz Air’s newest routes as well as the entire summer 2015 schedule from Poland are already on sale and can be booked at wizzair.com starting from PLN 39**.

Speaking at a press conference in Warsaw today, József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air said: "Today is another major step forward for WIZZ in Poland. Just in three weeks we have announced 3 new based aircraft, 13 new routes and 1.4 million additional seats in 2015. We are highly committed to continuing to bring more of our low fares and optional services to best meet the needs of the Polish traveling public. WIZZ’s ever expanding network and increasing frequencies on existing routes will certainly attract more passengers traveling on leisure or business. Our growth will generate over 1,400 jobs across Poland and boost tourism across the country."
