Asian Aerospace 2011- Hong Kong

Post by RoMax »

Currently there is the "Asian Aerospace international expo and congres 2011". The Chinese HNA group already announced some days ago that they would announce new orders with Airbus, Boeing, Dassault, Gulfstream... And today the first orders were announced.
Altough it are not firm orders yet, just a memorandum of understanding.

- HNA signed a MoU for 30 Boeing 787-9's, 6 B777F's and 2 B787-8VIP's
- HNA signed a MoU for 5 G450's and G550's from Gulfstream
- HNA signed a MoU for 5 7X Dassault business jets

This order is mentionned for Hong Kong Airlines, the HNA group want to develop this airline as a very important one in that region. But there is chance that some of the B787's can end with Hainan if they think that could work out at the time the aircraft will be delivered.
Now it's waiting for the order for the Airbus planes, cause they announced that they would order with both Boeing and Airbus.

A second order announced today may be even more important for Boeing. Air China signed a firm order for 5 B747-8i's, only the government has to give it's "ok" for this order. Air China is using the B747 since the '80's and they say the new version will be important for their future growth. BUT they don't close the door for the A380. Air China says they still think daily about ordering the A380 or not, the fact that they order the B748i doesn't change anything about it.
So finally there is 3th airline for the pax version. But still only 30 orders for the pax version (LH: 20, Korean: 5, Air China: 5)

Maybe also another order, altough not signed at the AA11. IAG (British/Iberia) signed a MoU with Airbus for 8 A333's and another 8 options. These aircraft are mentionned for Iberia to replace the oldest A340-300's. Engines not decided yet. Deliveries, from 2012 till 2014 if I remember well.

Sources from China predict that Hainan Airlines might sign deal for Airbus A380 orders as well.

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines orders ten A321 and three A330-200 freighters.

Another order (wich is actually not signed at the AA11, but anyway...). Turkish Airlines signed for 3 additional A330F's and placed an order for 10 A321's (the A321's are converted options). The airplanes will be delivered from 2012 onwards.

ILFC just placed an order for 100 A320neo-series: 75 A320neo and 25 A321neo (the first order for this type). 60 of the 100 planes will be equiped with PW110G engines. ILFC is the first customer who makes an engine decision for the A320neo series.

On the other hand, they cancelled and order for 10 A380's...

At the same time, ILFC has signed a purchase agreement for 33 737-800 planes from Boeing:

About the imbalance between the Boeing and Airbus orders, ILFC chief said: "We can't wait for what Boeing is going to do next on 737".

Cathay Pacific Airways said on Wednesday 9.03.2011 that it has bought 25 aircraft in March (15 Airbus A330-300s and 10 Boeing 777-300ERs) and is in talks to buy 14 more.

In December 2010, Cathay had already ordered two Airbus A350-900s.

Many people think that these 14 more will be (at least a part of them) A380's or B748i's. Cathay already has the B748F but that doesn't mean anything and you can easily operate the A380 and the B748i (two of the 3 B748i customers are also A380 customers, the tirth is thinkin about A380's).
So if these rumours are correct, there can be another nice order for Airbus or Boeing soon.

Aeroflot ordered 8 Boeing 777 aircraft (6 -300ERs and 2 -200ERs). But this has probably nothing to do with Asian Aerospace.

It's a part of the LOI they signed in 2010 wich are converted in a firm order. The LOI was for 8 B77W's, 8 B772ER's and 4 additional B787's.
The order was also already booked in Boeing's order list under "unidentified customer".

They seem to buy everything: A330-200 (5), A330-300 (5+11 on order), B777-300ER (6 on order), B777-200ER (2 on order), B787 (22 on order), A350 (22 on order: 4 -900, 18 -800) and they still fly B767 and Il-96 (at least the 767's will be replaced, and I think they want to replace the Il-96's also but Russia is not happy with that). It seems they plan a big long haul expansion. :P
