I picture of it leaving the assembly hanger, probably on its way over to the paint shop

See the stunning new red/orange livery disclosed at the roll out of the new B747-8I: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=42321&p=245468#p245468
The 747-8 Intercontinental is the only jetliner in the 400- to 500-seat market, stretched 5.6 m (18.3 ft) from the 747-400 to provide 467 seats in a three-class configuration and a 14,815-km (8,000-nmi) range. Using 787-technology engines, the airplane will be quieter, produce lower emissions, and achieve better fuel economy than any competing jetliner.

Re: Boeing 747-8i roll-out
i was hoping for the dreamliner livery but with the orange it kinda reminded me on the first 747-100
Re: Boeing 747-8i roll-out
That was their intention, some kind of 'tribute' to the first B747 and to show that he is different than everything else. Everyone expected any paint with blue in it. And red/ orange, not only the color of the first B747 but also a color wich is seen as strong/powerfull/... . I don't like it really, but maybe I change my mind when I see it in daylight and in the sky of course.cnc wrote:i was hoping for the dreamliner livery but with the orange it kinda reminded me on the first 747-100
But above all I hope it will get some more orders...
Re: Boeing 747-8i roll-out
Funny how the spokesman of Lufthansa totally ignored the existance of the A380 while talking about the position of the new 747 in the fleet...
In my opinion the 747-8i looks great! I'm also very impressed about the modern en spacious cabin...

Imagine Kanye West as a LH spokesman..RCMike wrote:Funny how the spokesman of Lufthansa totally ignored the existance of the A380 while talking about the position of the new 747 in the fleet...
"Yo Boeing, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish but Airbus had one of the best planes of all time. One of the best planes of all time!"
Why would any airline buy a 748 ?
Why would an airline buy a 747-8 if Boeing has the 777-300ER available (roughly same capacity?)? Surely twinjet consumes less fuel and pilots can fly on the smaller 777-200 as well...
just wondering

Re: Why would any airline buy a 748 ?
The 777-300ER has nowhere near the capacity of the 747-8. Especially in a 3-class config, the 747-8 can carry 100 people more. (365 vs. 467). Also in 2-class config there is a big difference (451 vs 524).triple7 wrote:Why would an airline buy a 747-8 if Boeing has the 777-300ER available (roughly same capacity?)? Max capacity in 1-class config is not as relevant (550 vs 581), after all, the A380 can be stuffed with 853 people, but so far only one airline chose to do so.
