US invites Airbus to re-bid for $35bn deal

Could it be that there is a clause in the bidding that if there is just 1 bid, the deal doesn't go through ?
So, please, Airbus, make a bid.
Oh yes, typical, they ask a favour, but attach immediately a condition: that Airbus would quote as the prime contractor and not Northrop Grumman. That is new. :o

A financial news site (TheStreet.com) has posed an article whose headline is "Boeing Will Win, EADS Will Lose, Poll Says". It is an interesting article (see: http://www.thestreet.com/story/10717326 ... n=GOOGLEFI ).

Quoting a UK based analyst, the article reports:
"Meanwhile, U.K.-based aerospace analyst Saj Ahmad with FleetBuzz Editorial published a report on March 31 that said "EADS' continued indecision about whether it will bid" on the contract is "endangering the lives of people who need new tankers." Ahmad added that he has been stunned by the French government's "hypocrisy" in the entire matter because "they have only given consideration to the [Airbus] A330 for their tanker needs, not even allowing the [Boeing] 767 to feature." France, which holds a 15% stake in EADS, has on numerous occasions accused the U.S. of skewing the bidding process in Boeing's favor."

I don't know whether the above is true of not, but it does fuel the flames.
