Hi all,
I enjoy a lot looking at your photos..I have been trying to reach your levels but in vain..I am still using the 8" skywatcher but I ordered the Televue Powermate 2" 2x. Well, I take my photos from my balcony but there are other buildings left and right and I just have 15-20 secs in order to spot the plane and shot..I must admit that sometimes my telescope is exposed to the sun but I haven't been able to buy an umbrella and protect it! I have had it for about 8 months and I haven't collimated it yet! I bought the "thing" to collimate it but I can't do it..maybe I have to buy the laser collimator! I managed to reduce the vignetting by adding the 1,25" ring to the barlow lens. I am sending a couple of photos I took this afternoon, they don't reach your levels! :-)..
I love your photos contrailwatcher, DC10, vader, Ian, etc..I hope to be able and reach your level!
Enjoy your day,
Vas

Another tip is - Once you have edited your photo in RAW and saved it as a JPEG , re open the JPEG pic and sharpen a little more , this always seems to enhance the pic , I sometimes play with brightness and contrast again at this stage too.
I too am not in the league of some of you guys but i guess we gotta start somewhere .lol

Hi Nick,
thanks for your message. When you say that once I have edited the photo and save it as a JPEG I have to reopen the JPEG pic with which program should I do it? Thanks

If your finding that photos are distorted it could be that the telescope is not at the same temperature as the outside air. Best pictures are taken after 1 hour of the scope being outside. Also if you are taking photos from your balcony surrounded by rooftops etc you'll get heatwaves/distortion (especially in summer). Try to take photos in the garden or if you don't have one, put the telescope in the car and drive out to the countryside where there are better conditions. Collimation has to be done too, although can be a very confusing task and a laser collimator can make things much easier. You'll definitely notice vast improvement when you get your Televue 2"2x - great purchase.

* Contrailwatcher: Thanks contralwatcher for the advice. The truth is that it crossed my mind many times to put the telescope in my car and go to the countryside but I thought that by doing so I would worsen the alignment of the lenses..:-)..maybe I exaggerated! But I will do it I'm sure about it..I desire so much to be able to take perfect photos of planes!
Thanks again,
regards,
Vas ;)

*DC10MD11: sorry mate, I am not really good at these technological staff..I'll be more careful next time..

Hi to you
When I got my 10inch scope it was in my car for 175 miles.. it was on the back seat with the seat belts over it and when I got it home it was perfection. Linement had not moved.

Hope this helps
