my new camera - advice please

Post by simon180399 »

good morning group, I have not been too active of late due to various reasons but I have just invested in a rather smart new camera.

It is the Canon eos 600d, as of yet due to cloud and lack of contrail when the sun has been out I have been unable to use the canon on the Skywatcher.

On my previous camera (Canon eos 300d) I used to have the shutter speed set to 1/320 and the ISO at either 200 or 400 this was giving me acceptable pictures, but I am wondering if anyone is using the same camera or its variants the rebel T3i and the kiss X5 - If so what settings are you using/recommend?

Hopefully we will have a nice cloud break soon but as is usually the case its normally when I am at work.

Any help and advice will be welcomed.

regards simon

Hi Simon,

I've got 450D and 10" Newtonian telescope (without barlow). I use manual programme (M):

- the shutter speed depend from light. During the day 1/1200-1600s and ISO100
- in the evening 1/320-400s, sometimes less and ISO200/400.

Redards,
Matt
