It is possible a tele converter instead of a barlow to use?

Post by Steffen1030 »

Sorry for my bad english...
I use the Google translator ;)
It is possible a tele converter instead of a barlow lens to use?
I put the 1.4 extender for example on the cam and the T-Ring on the other side of the extender and then to the scope...
Is the distance for sharp pictures okay? I have an 2*Barlowlense but the pics are to dark and i hope with an good 1,4* extender i get more light from the telescope...

I hope you can help with te question
Thanks

Steffen

Actually i don't know if it'll work, but i think this could be some innovative thing in contrail spotting :D better idea is to buy a TeleVue Barlow...(2'' diametere obviously)

The Televue powermates are very good and give bright images, in my opinion the televue power mate 2x 2" is one of the best on the market. I own one and it gives very nice images when seeing conditions are good. Of course the down side is the price  : http://www.bestelectronic.co.uk/details ... B0039ZICAI
One of my photos using the televue on a 12" 1500mm dobsonian scope: http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n58/ ... G_5254.jpg

Although the meade tele-extender 2x 2" could be a cheaper option, but i have never tried it: http://www.telescopehouse.com/acatalog/ ... r_2__.html

I tried a 1.4x yesterday but I kept getting an ERR 1 on my Canon camera, so I am not sure it is possible. The image looked fine through the viewfinder but couldn't get the camera to take a photo :(

Tried the tape but still got the Err 01 message
Err 01 on my camera = Communication between the camera and lens is faulty, clean the lens contacts.

Yeah that could be good for spotting your neightbors...but not for contrail spotting :):):):) unless...you get a 1000-2000mm of primary mirror diameter

Hi
Did any one have any success in getting a converter to work on the camera with out a lens?????????????????????????????.
A guy in poland is using a KENKO 1.4 on his camera so you must be able to get over the ERR 1 code on the camera.

I have e-mailed the guy but still waiting a reply.

Do you get MORE light by using a CONVERTER???????????????????????????????.

All the best
