Hi,
Steffen that Air China A330 is outstanding
Also the ISS is interesting, It passed over here a few days ago. I tried to get a photo but it was going too fast for me to line it up and my finderscope was not aligned properly..... next time I will get it!

Havnt posted anything for a while so just thought i'd post something. Ive bought a new camera recently (upgraded from 350D to 50D) and this is my first attempt with it:
Image

Quite pleased with it so far, not had much opportunity to try it out on contrailspotting yet though! It has this AUTO ISO feature which I have it on, but not sure if i should use it.... does anybody here also have this feature and is it reccomended?

Thanks :)

Hi contrailwatcherUK
I have the 450D and this also has AUTO ISO-----I set it to AUTO ISO and IT WORKS O/K.
If need be you can use NEAT IMAGE.
Do you use LIVE IMAGE?????.

All the best

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I forgot to try out the live image function. I'm not sure I should always use it though because the shutter is always left open so might be more prone to dust etc.

Thanks,

Hi...
I think the live image function is not good useable in contrailspotting.
We all are spotting in good weather conditions. For focusing and following the planes are the monitor in sunlight not good i think.

Hi steffen
Great pictures(like the air china airbus a330).------Not all of us can spot in good weather conditions at this time of year-----here in ENGLAND at this time of year we get all the fronts from the NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN and the never ending HAZY,its only around october/noverber do we get CLEAN BLUE SKY.

All the best

DC10MD11, I like the photo of the easyjet, very nice capture! The heat haze should go away soon.
I saw a TAM 777-300 yesterday but I couldnt be bothered to post the pic because the sun was in the way when I took it and the picture is far too bright :( ..... so just thought i'd mention it.
I'm going to"flock" my scope so that the sunlight doesnt make so much of an impact on making images look washed out.

Mr. contrailwatcherUK,
I'm not the type that usually comments on pictures, but that last one is absolutely gorgeous!
As if a set of giant tweezers are putting the A340 in place.

No. This was taken just after I re-collimated the scope. I read a detailed guide on how to collimate perfectly and found out that I had been doing it all wrong

hi there

James great shots, I found this collimation site when I first bought my laser collimator (Feb this year) and at first seems difficult as hadn't touched secondary mirror before but after you've done it once its ok, I had to buy a cheshire to double check everythng and my shots definately improved,

The clocks go forward soon a good time to attach the Barlow (at last! :D )
