Let's hope this grainy weather gets better soon.
I want to test my repaired lens ;)
Past two years, the first two days of May we're hot as hell and perfect for spotting.
Now, autumn has arrived again I guess.

We had showery weather in SW England today so it was hit and miss. I only managed to capture two aircraft, despite many transatlantic flights going overhead due to the volcanic ash cloud.

Gentlemen (and women),

yesterday evening (may 19th) I noticed a plane passing south of Louvain in a north-eastern direction leaving a single contrial. When looking with my binocoulars, it looked to me like the Diamond Jet, but I am aware that this is hardly possible. Unfortunatly the plane was out of reach by the time I had my camera in my hands...

Anybody who can tell me what I saw?
Thanks!

Today was extreme day for contrail spotting, but sadly - it was cludy... There were A300, A330(Qatar, Emirates...), A340, A380X2(Emirates), B777(Emirates), B767, B747... etc that usualy fly much norther? Are there weather conditions that makes airlines to choose new routes, or is there something else that influences on? For example, A380 EK02 on LHR-DXB flew on UL603 for a month, then all of the sudden much norther, and stayed there for a while? Now again luckily on UL603. How to know when they will change enroute?

On long-haul routes, aircraft tend to fly in favour of high altitude winds, such as the jet stream. If the aircraft flies in the same direction as the wind then it will reach its destination quicker and fly more efficiently. The pilot will be given a route they must fly by the flight despatcher. You can view the jetstream winds at this link  http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/jetstream.asp
Also EK02 route can be found here  http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAE2

Hope this helps,
James.
