Hello people!
Someone could think i was dead but i'm still here. I read everyday the forum but i'm not able to take photos anymore since i'm always in milan studying for my degree in aerospace engineering. What i want to let you know is that i'm going to buy a canon eos 5d mk II and this upgrade will affect also my contrail spotting photos so (i think) from january i'll be able to get photos at iso 1600 without noise and this will be a major improvement especially for special effect photos.
I just wanted to share with you my happiness about this add to my equipment.
Have a good time you all,
Best regards,

Mattia

Hi
A few photos from sunday 6th dec-------------took photos early p.m which was not the best time due to distortion,so the quality of some of the photos is not great.--------Only some aircraft on contrail--------------the forecast for this weekend is :D :D high pressure :D :D and getting colder(if they get the forecast RIGHT).
ALL photos taken with barlow.

Congrats on the upgrade, I wonder what those special effect photos might be

According SBS database, the drop in traffic in the Benelux was remarkable at the end of 2008, with -25%. Current season again a growth of 10 to 15%. But for the moment overhead traffic is also quite slacky with hardly an interesting widebody movement on my favorite UL608.

England (the SE) seems doing well in having its part of sunshine. Also today (Dec 10) again a sunny day overthere, but over the channel things are quite different. On my spot first 10 days, 4 hours of sunshine, not very encouraging :|

Hi james
You must have had great skys to take photos like that(GREAT)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DID YOU USE THE BARLOW????????????.
Here in the southeast of england today we had early rain then cloud and later on we had blue sky with rain showers which left a very hazy sky.
Took a few photos which i will put on the site soon------------Was useing ASA 400 because of the LOW LIGHT :x :x :x with a shutter speed of 1/400 .
Forecast for the next few days is rain showers and cold---MAX+6c----MIN-5c---with may be some snow towards the end of the week.
All the best

If you're using the barlow: what's your shutterspeed, ISO, ... ?

Today I took for the first time pictures with the barlow (Telvue Big Barlow). Because off the weather, I could only take 2 pictures... Monday it's a new sunny day I can make more (test)pictures.

Hi,

Yeah I use the Barlow for all my shots during winter... I think the conditions on this day were pretty good, but there were no contrails. Also The aircraft was quite low - 30,000ft. Problems with the weather also here today with lots of fog patches surrounding my area.

I use "Av" Shutter speed setting, so it automatically detects what setting to use. ISO is 200. Note that I take all my pics in RAW format so they're easier to correct when I have to edit them.
I look forward to seeing your pics!
James

Hello,

Some pics from sunday 20th Dec. Sky also hazy here, had to reject a lot of photos!

MNG airlines a300, very rare for me to see this one!!
Image

British Airways 777 at 28,000ft, this had some really good lighting on it.
Image

The Suriname is nice DC10! Will keep a good eye out for this one. The 747 used to fly over me quite a lot, but It was hard to catch because it never showed its position on the radar.
