Contrail spotting December 2008

Post by Skystef »

Thanks you all for last months pictorial contributions throughout various locations in Europe.

But a new month has arrived, in fact now it's prime time for the photographers. So if weather permits please report your (pictorial) sightings.

Here my small contribution of Dec 1, snapped in a very small gap in the everlasting cloudfields over Belgium.

Since December 1, a daily visitor in Belgian skies, Emirates A380.
Between 1130-1230LT westbound on UL608 (although she takes often the more northern route via southern Holland :( ) & between 1530-1630LT eastbound on UL607.

Here captured on Dec 3, A6-EDB at 36000 ft enroute LHR-DBX.

More of this day over here.

Hi

Write what you have barlow? Soligor or Televue?

The sun is enough to barlow.
1. ADVICE
Push the camera at an angle. That:
Image Image
2. ADVICE
Reduce to ISO100 and reduce time to about -+ 1/400 so that it wasn't too dark.
Possibly become at ISO200 and reduce time to about +-1/600.

1/1600 is too short!!!! And always you had dark!!!

I fixed little your Asiana:

3. ADVICE
File save as *.jpg in RGB , don't GIF.

GREETING
Tommy

Hi everyone!
My name is Sergey, I'm from Moscow, Russia.

I've got a problem of choice. I want to start doing contrail photography through a telescope but I need a portable one 'cause I'm going to travel around with it.
Here is what I found: http://www.sky-watcher.net/swtinc/produ ... class2=201
I would like to ask your advice if this thing is worth buying and if I will be able to get acceptable results with it.
If this thing is not good are there any better alternatives to it among portable scopes?

BTW, some contrail pictures made with Canon 70-300+2x Extender and Canon 100-400L+2x Extender are here: http://www.jetphotos.net/showphotos.php?userid=607

Thank you very much!

Just saw it at 12.27 over Maldegem, heading over to LHR. To make things even better, it was immediately followed by an Etihad 346. Anybody got the registration of these beauties ?
