please can you tell me if the pictures are taken with a barlow????????? how do you decide when to use the barlow on your scope??????????????.

Yes, all contrail pictures have been taken with the barlow, in fact it's always attached on my scope.

In the past I only removed it for the contrails-crossing-the-Moon photography, but shooting them with my 500mm telelens gives more or less the same result and is much easier.

have been out with my new scope(8 inch skywatcher---f6)today and have enclosed the results-----was useing a 2times+1.25 apochromatic barlow(meade series 4000)and a canon 350 with a shutter speed of 1/1600------all my pictures have a back ground!!!!!!!!---if i go down to a speed of 1/1200 the back ground is blue but the aircraft are not sharp----------------please can you help???????????????????please do not be to hard on me.

Hi,

I think your problem is the barlow lens. It is only 1.25mm and doesnt let in much light. I think you would be better off taking pictures without the barlow lens first.

Here its too cloudy, although its breaking up a bit now but its also beginning to get dark

I dont use the barlow much, but I have the soligor 2" 2x. I ordered mine from poland, teleskopy.pl.

At last I was able to do some spotting today. Sadly nothing was contrailing, and it was showery weather so I couldnt keep the scope outside for long.
