Hi ilpavone2004

Here some information about your pictures.
- Iberia is an A319 or A320. IB has no A318 in their fleet
- XL Airways: is a Boeing 767-200. So I guess his reg is G-BOPB
- Unknown 4 is in my opinion a A319 or A320 of Swiss International Air Lines. You can see it on his tail.
- Unknown 5 is (but I'm not 100% sure) a Boeing 737-400 of Hemus Air (reg LZ-HVA)

I hope you can do something with this information. :D

Kind regards
Bavo

Thank you really much Bavo for your information! I'll try to check this flight but as i haven't got a radar i can check only departures from Rome airports because most of the flights that go to east pass over my head.
See ya you all, today is cloudy :(

have a nice time

Hello,

It was a clear sky today so I have seen a few.

LH A330 (heading to north america I guess)
BA 777
Emirates 777

and question about 2 Transavia 737-7/800 passing my garden at noon, heading West...? Flying to Ostend? Or what?

regards

What is your location and at which time you saw all these overflyers?

Transavia's are quite common over Belgium, today over 60 were counted, all from/to the Netherlands (mostly EHAM).

Making good pictures with a scope remains these days a difficult task. Next months things will surely improve.

Anyhow, used the cam occasionally on August 4

Hi,

Time: between 12 and 1 o'clock at noon I think. I didn't watch the clock when they passed.

Altitude: roughly between 15000 and 25000 feet I think

Location: near Herentals, not so far from BRUNO.

Hi

Moons / A

Hey, a fellow contrail spotter from my own town :D, I live @ Herentals too :D.

But I can't really name any specific routes above that aerea, they come from anywhere :

DXB-LHR
NRT-CDG
CMB-LHR
Northern Europe-Southern Europe
...

The only real large route nearby is the FRA-USA route, but it's about 5km more to the south so you always have backlit and you can only hardly see them, so certainly not photograph them :(.

Bruspotter,

I'm from Vorselaar, so it's near H'tals ofcourse.

I see alot of LH 747's and A 340's when I stand in my garden and look upon the sky. And around 4 pm (don't know it's every day) I see a JAL 777 coming from the East heading West.

My scope is an 8" Skywatcher with 1200 mm. Sometimes use a 2x barlow lens, but with disturbing heat waves in summer use it rather seldom as the scoring rate is very poor. Tried it on August 4 and only two airframes out of ten were worth showing.

What effect do heat waves have on subjects with very strong magnification?
One example below taken at noon of August 4, of course ready for trash.

Hi

Ok, Vorselaar is indeed not so far from H'tals idd :D
But it explains why you can see the LH's and I don't...you live more to the South/Southwest, and that's exaclty where they fly (I used to see them when I lived in Oevel, and they flew NorthWest those days, so that would be in the direction of Vorselaar idd).

I also see a JAL every day (when the weather is clear :D) around 4 or 5PM (sometimes later) but he's more heading from the North/Northeast heading to the South/Southwest. It's the JAL 777 (sometimes 744) from Tokyo Narita to Paris CDG, on exactly the same route you can also spot a ANA All Nippon 744 (already twice seen the 'Pokemon' one :D). But I don't know the exact time of that one, but I guess it's earlier, could as well be 4PM.

Will keep in contact about that one ;)

Best regards: Yannick ;)

Hello,

Thee week before last I went on holiday to Wales, which turned out to be a very successful trip for contrailspotting, nearly everyday had clear skies and there were plenty of contrails. I stayed near the Brecon VOR (BCN) which surrounds airways UL9, UN14, UN38, UN864, UL180, and UN862.

Here is an airspace map of the location, as you can see the skies were a lot busier on holiday than at home!:
Image

A pic of 3 contrails on the UL9 airway:

Now onto the telescope pictures. I'll try to add as much info as I can but it was difficult to identify most flight numbers and what airway they were on.
I hope you dont mind me posting pictures from last month as well

Hello,

Great pictures. Nice place for contrailspotting. You can see different airlines and different aircraft types. The last days it was too cloudy to spot them from my place. I can hear them sometimes but I prefer some visual contact besides the noise.

Some nice shots CW, of course the one crossing the Moon is really great and my favorite.

After my night shift decided to put the scope outside for half an hour as sky was crystal clear and this has been quite a while ago. Nothing special, just experimented with the barlow lens and without the heat waves results seem satisfying, so promising for use in winter period.

Hi,

^ Excellent pictures, I especially like the United Airlines 763 as you can see the windows and read the titles clearly :)

The only shot I made yesterday due to radiation waves, and as Stef knows it really spoils your photos:

Hello

Contrailwatcher UK, you have a nice map there, with quite obvious some very interesting traffic passing by there, I really like the C-5 :p:p Wish I saw some up here :D. Did once see a C-17.

I hae couple of maps with airways too in my posession but I don't really can't get very wise out of them yet...maybe I should take a picture of them and post them? I think they are only used for medium/small size aircraft (private jets/props) as most airways are limited until FL260.

contrailwatcher UK:

The unidentified private Jet:

That one's a Cessna 560XL Citation Excel but I don't know the airline either.

Today around 13:00 the Airbus Beluga flew above Belgium. Didn't knew where it came from but it entered Belgium via the East and flew to France.
It flew at FL300.

Some (bad) photos:
