And it is not really Coast Guard, it is the Management Unit of the North Sea Mathematical Models, part of the Directorate Natural Environment of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences.

This being said, an Ostend home base seems more appropriate than Antwerp.

According to the Belgian aircraft registry, it is based at Antwerp indeed.

Correct, however they use as callsign 'Belgian Coastguard 01'. And are stationed at the 'north' side @EBAW.
Maybe the availability of a support & maintenance provider for their Britten Norman played a role? (no idea what is available @ EBOS)
