Best Sites to Buy Airline Tickets

Post by Comet »

Which internet sites give the best deals for airline tickets? I have experience of Expedia and Lastminute.com and I prefer Expedia for the service.

Are there other sites which are better?

Lastminute.com have a poor customer response. Although they send their tickets by courier or registered mail, they are bad at answering queries. I sent a query to them last year, and I received an answer weeks later after the flights when the question was no longer relevant!

I've used travelocity.com and .co.uk and have always found them very good. Prices are competitive + you can book your seats which sometimes isn't avaialable on Expedia

The Belgian consumers association (Test-Achats/Aankoop) tested several internet airline ticket providers. Here are the results in decreasing order (website / country / percentahe of advantageous tickets):

Travelprice.be Belgium 56%
Opodo.de Germany 45%
Expedia.de Germany 41%
BBLT.be Belgium 39%
Opodo.co.uk United Kingdom 38%
Airstop.be Belgium 36%
Orbitz.com USA 30%
Flybillet.dk Denmark 30%
D-reizen.nl The Netherlands 20%
Vliegtarieven.nl The Netherlands 17%
Travelocity.com USA 8%
Expedia.com USA 6%

The winner is clearly travelprice.be (part of lastminute.com). In addition, the article mentions that they provide 49% of all the cheapest fares available in Belgium.

Far ahead of Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity and the others you mention.

Not possible. The article is available only to subscribers (and only in French or in Dutch)
