Last come, first served!
Now that seats are assigned again on most airliners in Europe, the queues for boarding (some starting an hour (yes, an hour) ) before departure have become in fact stupid and useless.
Danish researchers have come up with a solution: last come, first served. Probably very difficult to implement, but very worth the read...

Only problem being having space in the bins when you're the last... Can't figure out how people take so many things with them...

Correct, but even people without luggage stand in line, I just don't get it... must be a habit...Nevihta wrote:Only problem being having space in the bins when you're the last... Can't figure out how people take so many things with them...

Re: Last come, first served!
At an airport, you have to queue
- at the drop desk if you carry hold luggage
- at the security check
- at the passport control if you go out of Schengen
- and eventually at the boarding gate
By then, you just want to go as soon as possible to your seat and relax.
Not to be amongst the last passengers is useful if you carry hand luggage and prefer to store it safely in the overhead bin (as has already be pointed out); also, you won't have to disturb passengers who are already seated (or is it sat ?) - perhaps in your seat !

And if the airline (not Ryanair, of course) is in the habit of overbooking, the seasoned traveller may well be left stranded there.
