Light helico crashes at Mettet

Postby airazurxtror » 18 May 2012, 12:51

A one-seat helicopter crashed at Mettet (Province of Namur) yesterday around 8 pm. It seems it is a CH7.
It had taken off from Nalinnes and was on flight to Saint-Hubert.
The pilot was a BAF Cdt, Pieter Ghylkens. He was wounded in the crash (spine ?) and carried to the Mont Godinne hospital.

Seen on RTL-TVI : the pilot was not wounded in the accident; according to him, thanks to his experience, good technical knowledge, and ... luck !
He is now at Saint-Hubert (there is an aerial show this week-end)), and intends to fly tomorrow.

I have a question (not being a pilot). After such a crash, does the pilot keep its license without having to pass a medical check ?
After a serious crash, a Formula I driver must be thoroughly examined by a doctor, who decides if and when he may drive again in a race.
