Will they come to BRU? Or CRL?
Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle
Not in the foreseeable future. Which is a pity, as it would have allowed Belgians to participate in their Boeing 787 "European Dream Tour"brusselsairlinesfan wrote:Will they come to BRU? Or CRL?

Boeing, International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) and Norwegian celebrated several milestones Thursday during a delivery ceremony for a new 787 Dreamliner. It was the first 787 delivered to ILFC and its lessee, Norwegian, which will operate the airplane. The 787 also marked the 700th airplane Boeing delivered to ILFC.
Norwegian Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Kjos said, "Today marks a major milestone in Norwegian's history. It's with great pleasure we eventually take delivery of our first 787 Dreamliner. Both our many customers and we at Norwegian have been looking forward to this for several months."
Norwegian currently has eight 787s on order through lease agreements and direct deliveries. The carrier will use the 787s to service its new long-haul routes from Oslo and Stockholm to New York and Bangkok. In November, the airline also will operate the 787 to Fort Lauderdale from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Norwegian to set up an US base
Norwegian’s chief executive, Bjørn Kjos, has announced that the airline will set up a base in the United States towards the end of 2013.
Like their recently opened bases at Alicante and London Gatwick, the base will become a hub for Norwegian flights and staff. It will become operational following the delivery of the airline’s third Boeing 787 in October.
The location of the base is likely to be Miami or New York. It replaces any previous plans to open a base in Asia.

Norwegian Long Haul applies for an Irish AOC, ACOL
Norwegian Long Haul (DU, Oslo Gardermoen) is reportedly pursuing its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and Air Carrier Operating Licence (ACOL) with the Irish Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR).
In June, Norwegian obtained temporary approval from the Irish authorities to register their fleet of six B787-8s in Ireland; an arrangement that will expire on December 24.
According to Scandinavian news reports, parent Norwegian (DY, Oslo Gardermoen) is in the process of finalizing and submitting its documentation to the Irish aviation authorities. The airline uses the Irish registry as a means of circumventing restrictive Norwegian laws that bar airlines from hiring cheaper Asian cabin crews.
However, Norwegian law also forbids any carrier registered in the country from operating aircraft registered in another on a permanent basis, thereby leading to speculation that Norwegian Long Haul may be forced to re-register itself in Ireland.

Norwegian Launches FlightPath3D Moving Map Service on International Routes
Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA recently launched Betria Interactive’s new FlightPath3D Moving Map & Destination ‘geotainment’ service on their new 787 Dreamliner fleet.
In an agreement inked last year, Betria Interactive has been selected as the provider of Norwegian’s interactive in-flight 3D Moving Map service for their new 787 fleet servicing expanded international routes. Norwegian’s recent inaugural Dreamliner flight also served as the official in-service launch of Betria’s new FlightPath3D Moving Map offering.
"We are excited to have Norwegian as a launch partner. Their focus on passenger experience excellence is a perfect match for the innovative offering provided by the FlightPath3D product suite." According to Boris Veksler, Betria’s president, "It is truly the first service of its kind that can be deployed fleet-wide for any carrier."
The FlightPath3D product launch is a fully integrated in-flight moving mapping service. The new service includes a flight preview ‘auto-play’ script broadcast during aircraft boarding, a new in-seat interactive 3D map application with detailed satellite imagery & integrated street maps. This next generation product suite is enhanced by a new Destination Guide information service that updates relevant point-of-interest information periodically for each of Norwegian’s destination cities.
"We looked at all of the available products in the ‘moving map’ space and FlightPath3D delivered by far the most engaging passenger experience," said Norwegian head of business development Boris Bubresko. "We are the first to fly an Panasonic’s Android based in-seat system and FlightPath3D really showcases the capability of this new platform." NAS plans to leverage the service’s highly configurable system to deliver a compelling, interactive 3D mapping interface combined with destination specific content to enrich the passenger’s experience. Mr. Bubresko added that "We have only been operating the new platform for a month now, but initial feedback from our passengers has exceeded our expectations."
Norwegian and Betria are working closely together to plan expanded services and deployments of the FlightPath3D suite over the coming years.

we are completely out of the boat in Belgium because of that, ryanair is our best hope ...
My messages reflect my personal opinion which may be different than yours. I beleive a forum is made to create a debate so I encourage people to express themselves, the way they want, with the ideas they want. I expect the same understanding in return.
Re: Norwegian Air Shuttle
There is nothing LCC about their longhaul fares.
700 euro return to Orlando. Any of the UK charters will offer you the return for 500 euro's.
LCC customers aren't fooled easily
Ryanair didn't miss any boat, they just can't do it and they won't.
It's all marketing talk.
We will have to wait for a revolution in aircraft design to be able to see low longhaul fares.
Curently, only SU is offering competitive fares between Europe and Asia.

Norwegian to register next 737-800 in Ireland
Norwegian will register its next B737-800, due in October, at its newly created Irish company according to Hangar.no. Airline CFO, Frode Foss, said the incorporation of a new company in Ireland would limit its exposure to currency fluctuations as is currently the case with its Norwegian operations.
Norwegian entered into discussions with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to obtain a permanent Irish air operator’s certificate (AOC) for its longhaul division Norwegian Long Haul. The Norwegian carrier already holds a temporary AOC from the IAA.

Now, with an Irish registration [and Thailand-based long-haul crew], they can compete head-to-head with Ryanair...
