C17 Globemaster went into production in 1991 and has since then proven itself to be one of the best transport aircraft of the world. Have a look.

Re: C17 Globemaster
It is a pitty not more nato members have chosen this plane over the "late" A400.
In the end of keeping endlessly waiting the RAF had to order the C17 and they sure do not regret it.
Also other commonwealth countries like Canada and Australia chose the C17 and they to are marveled.
In the NATO there is also the NATO-Hungarian fleet of 3 C17 planes which can be used by several NATO air forces like the Netherlands etc...
BTW in the issue of the Malayan shotdown B777 ,the RAAF transport aircraft is a C17.

Re: C17 Globemaster
The C-17 wasn't exactly on time, on spec or on budget either. In fact, for quite a long time it looked like it was going to be a failure, and MD was regularly threatened with early terminations of the project.jal wrote:It is a pitty not more nato members have chosen this plane over the "late" A400.
Re: C17 Globemaster
Those two planes don't have the same duties. The A400 will be able to take off and land on short and difficult runways. The C-17 is a faster transport plane, but need long and better runways.jal wrote:It is a pitty not more nato members have chosen this plane over the "late" A400.

Re: C17 Globemaster
No need to go to LBG to see C-17s: they (from USAF) also regularly land in BRU!Stij wrote:I once saw a C17 in Le Bourget... very impressive...
