Re: Amsterdam flights capped; some cargo operators compelled to move elsewhere

And now russia is doing blackmail ! Not good for LGG... they really want AMS badly... i wonder why, 2-3h truck drive isnt crazy bad is it ? Because it isn't a 2-3 hour truck drive due to the congestion on the roads. However, primary reason is that they've invested in AMS (it's where they have their...

Re: ECJ: Ryanair crew based in Belgium fall under Belgian jurisdiction!

A small correction again, André, if I may? 'Belgian jurisdiction' and 'Belgian law' are very much interchangeable here, since any non-Irish court which accepts to hear a case will automatically apply its own law -not that of Ireland- as a court can never rule by any other law than it's own; it need...

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Can it be saved?

I reckon the majority of the bidders are in for stripping the airline from its profitable assets (slots, aircraft, profitable businesses). If the pilots blow the airline up prematurely, it will only lower the price and thus make the assets more attractive. Slots and aircraft need pilots to,operate ...

Re: Air Berlin files for insolvency as Etihad pulls funding plug

Hello, Could you please help me about my personnal situation? 5 months ago, I booked a NIKI flight (on airberlin website) from Koln-Bonn to Tenerife South for february 2018. If I understand well, NIKI is not insolvency. What's happening in the different alternatives? - if LH buys NIKI. My ticket st...

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Can it be saved?

Another problem for Alitalia, the pilots are running away. Alitalia pilots are required by contract to give a 120-day notice when resigning, which may lead to a surge of exits towards the end of September, or four months since the bankruptcy, said an Airbus A330 captain who has been flying with the...

Re: Air Berlin files for insolvency as Etihad pulls funding plug

Reports in the Dutch travel trade suggest that the liquidators refuse a payout of these EU indemnities. I guess that a part of the €150M bridge loan will be used for that purpose. Don't count on it. They need the money to stay afloat and I doubt the receivers will "waste" money on paying ...

One wonders who actually books on Air Berlin nowadays for W17.

Re: Alitalia near bankruptcy. Can it be saved?

It is rumoured that Qatar Airways is ready to buy at least part of Alitalia... Hainan Airlines (China) has reportedly emerged as another potential buyer for Alitalia. But none of these will be able to invest unless EY sells its stake due to EU foreign ownership rules. Moreover, I wouldn't be surpri...

Re: merica

I hope Libreville is still on the table (I am not convinced about Lagos) with an extension to ? Brazza (just throwing in a suggestion). Forget about Lagos. The economy in NIgeria is very fragile and dollar supply is still limited. Unless the Nigerian economy is picking up it isn't a very interestin...

Re: Brussels Airlines to Lima?

As I said before, I think a BRU-CTG-LIM-CTG-BRU could work with the proper aircraft and 5th freedom traffic rights between CTG-LIM (codeshare with Avianca). Why? The market at CTG is not big and KL is already there. Onestops to LIM are doomed to fail given the offereings of the competition. Some me...

Re: Brussels Airlines to Lima?

Does anyone know the yield of those 20,000 passengers which go to Lima? If they're all leisure passengers travelling on very cheap fares than I wonder why one would start LIM. BA cited low yields as the primary reason to make LIM seasonal (if it returns at all). Looks something for Norwegian to fly....

Re: Cancelled services and discontinued routes in 2017

Transavia stopped selling Eindhoven-Innsbruck for summer season. They were available to book a few weeks ago. Looks like the route will remain seasonal winter only instead of year round as in the past. It wasn't really year round as well. It stopped at the end of September (or first week of October...

Re: BRU Summer 2017: news, new routes, airlines

Interesting News... it maybe shows that SN does a bit more than just resist vs the LCC competition, what do you think ? I would say that with U2 and YV leaving some routes, there is no reason to have as many flights on some routes and thus profitability is probably better with less flights. In the ...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

Perfectly clear ! One more question...for PEK and PVG where HU is the operating airline...or will be for PVG...could theorically SN open those two routes ? Thx. BRU-PEK and BRU-PVG will be open to a Belgian and a Chinese airline. Thus if SN is smart, they request authourity then block the route for...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

Does it mean we will never see an China Eastern or Air China Aircraft at BRU because HU is operating ? They cannot fly from PVG and PEK. However, the other airlines can get the authorisation for any other airport in China, thus you it's not completely impossible. The situation is similar to AMS whe...
