Tried the tape but still got the Err 01 message
Err 01 on my camera = Communication between the camera and lens is faulty, clean the lens contacts.

I tried a 1.4x yesterday but I kept getting an ERR 1 on my Canon camera, so I am not sure it is possible. The image looked fine through the viewfinder but couldn't get the camera to take a photo
