Re: Brussels Airlines opens the door of Congo
I'm still pushing for SN to start China flights before TK has the chance to expand there, to boost its China-Africa flow. Honestly I'm not convinced. For two reasons : 1. B.air will not be able to set up those China flights you have been hinting at quickly enough. TK (and the 3G) will complete that...

Re: Brussels Airlines opens the door of Congo
TK isn't trying to compete with SN, their aim is to finish them off and take over their market. You could be right. And as I mentioned it before, FR will try and do the same with b.air at BRU. When b.air is gone, BRU will be eager to give MOL what he wants (but is not getting at BRU). Predatory pri...

Re: Ryanair in 2014
A flight to the States for just €10? Michael O'Leary said it could be a reality if he gets the long-haul aircraft needed to make it happen. And who is going to pay for the purchase of the aircraft, their maintenance, fuel, wages of crews and other employees if fares are at 10 euros, pounds or whate...

SN says this is a next step in SN's strategy to offer Belgian quality products to their customers and a response to the trend of healthy food. Served sandwiches include white and brown bread, multi cereal sandwiches, raisin and walnut sandwiches with “Sambre & Meuse” chicken fillet , “Mozarella...

Thanks, too !Flanker2 wrote:South America is a great mid-term vision / goal.
In today's economy, there is no planning for the long-term anymore. A lot is short-term and the best is to plan for the mid-term. So, we agree. Diversify to the west (Latin America).

Re: Why doesn't SN fly to Asia?
The current situation seems to indicate that LH wants pax to/from BRU traveling to/from Asia to fly through FRA/MUC and ZRH/VIE. LH's policy seems to be that b.air must concentrate on Africa. Personally,I thinkit it is indeed better for b.air not to enter the Asian market. This market is already dom...

Re: Alitalia again near bankruptcy
I think the EU better block non-EU airlines from investing in EU airlines if those non-EU airlines are majority state owned, just as it better blocks non-EU governments from buying into EU airlines all together: not to protect certain EU carriers, but simply to make sure all EU airlines can still c...

Re: Brussels Airlines' second US destination
I've always heard that the winter season has usually a very poor yield for transatlantic operations, except for destinations which attract a lot of business pax (NYC, WAS). What about b.air flying an A33O : to IAD during the summer season and flying it to MIA in winter ? And flying, for instance a P...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
LH imposed on all airlines in the LH Group the slim seats and a 30 inch seat pitch throughout the cabin on European flights. They also imposed it on b.air or b.air decided to follow (that I don't know). We can go on our knees to Santiago de Compostella (and back), these seats are here to stay for a ...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
Hi Flanker ! Sorry, but I'm afraid it's already too late. Most traffic between Asia and Africa now goes through the Near&Middle-East (EY/EK/QR/TK) with most of the time, shorter travel times, shorter connections and better lounges for high yield pax, etc... Since a lot of pax flying to Africa or...

Re: Alitalia again near bankruptcy
Had a busy day today. Quickly went through the posts. Cannot help reacting (in a sarcastic way, sorry) Lufthansa calls on EU to block Etihad-Alitalia tie-up. Lufthansa has criticized plans by Etihad Airways to invest in Alitalia and called on the European Commission to block the deal, saying it woul...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
Nothing is lost about YUL. Once SN fleels like they are ready to operate that route, there is not doubt that this will be arranged within Atlantic++. AC on its turn can start a non-stop Toronto-Brussels route (which they have hinted as a possible future 787 route). Currently SN is getting lots of t...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
My interpretation (fwiw as a contribution to the debate) : whether we like it or not, the sad reality is that there is no stopping TK, EK, EY, QR from dominating the Europe to Asia market (and to a lesser extent to Africa) and the Asia to Europe/Africa markets, just as there is no stopping FR (and p...

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
OK. I don't disagree with you. Remember that in my post I said "PERHAPS" Etihad. The message I wanted to get across (but I probaby failed) was that I blame : 1. LH for not making a decision and just giving b.air the necessary oxygen to survive in order to be able to buy the airline when/if...
