Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Indeed thank you for the info .. they codeshare in dus only. As feeders to lh 's scarce l/h flights there (+ ua,nh,ac) It's very limited. The reason being lh does not operate dus as a hub despite having a few l/hs flights needing some feeding. (20 feeder flights at most as you note, not tremendous) ...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Everybody is talking about “point-to-point” but Eurowings / Germanwings is not really a “point-to-point” carrier , no ? CGN / STR is a small hub and connections are possible between Germanwings/Eurowings and LH/OS/LX/SN No their operation is not integrated with lh's and probably not within their ow...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
sn-remember : would you accept nuisance for free , simply by the worry to beeing nice with others ? "Oh, sorry, I take all the nuisance without any return, or so little, because I love you". Not realistic. Certainly in this artificial splitted country. Whether we want it or not, Brussels ...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
As an aside, I must state that I disapprove the way this debate is conducted by some on this tread and some in the political sphere ... although not everybody thanksfully ! 1. It's not relevant to distinguish which human category is impacted by the nuisance. A human is a human whatever his/her race,...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Unbelievable... sad politics theater... There is no such debate @ AMS although this is also a high density populated area! You are wrong, those surprising Dutch manage to have significantly less noise impact at AMS which is 3 times more busy than BRU ... Order of nuisance magnitude delta around 5 ?...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Stretching one runway is far from a stupid idea IMO .. Also it could facilitate the use with tailwinds .. I know ..deemed less safe but can be with a longer runway .. Excerpt from the attached: "A five knot tailwind increase take-off distance with 25% and a ten knot tailwind with about 55%. The...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Frankfurt has a night curfew 23h00-05h00, and FRA also has a tariff that penalizes noisy aircraft during late evening and early morning: The noise regulations from the Brussels Government implement a night curfew 23h00-07h00. And let’s not forget: with the Brussels Government noise regulation, even...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Thank you for the info So in roughly 20% of cases, aircrafts would take off opposite to the city, right ? Hmm of course the opposite would apply for landings :( Yes the airport is definitely ill located but there is nothing to do ... I think the 3 propositions as I read them are not that excessive ....

I see .. thank you
While I understand it's better to have a front wind, you mean a back wind (let's say mild as is predominant in B.) would be a no go ?

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Looking at the chart in attachment, I ask myself why the aircrafts do not take off eastwards, meaning leaving the populous city center behind ? Maybe a naïve question ? https://images.lecho.be/view?iid=dc:100222756&context=ONLINE&ratio=0/0&width=2000&imageType=PNG&ts=1487334598000

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
About the w/b fleet renewal/extension ..
American Airlines are expected to retire their entire A333 fleet (9 copies) from next year .. I don't know the exact status of these aircrafts, could it be of interest for SN 's purpose ?

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Carsten spohr cited the opening of Mumbai and the creation of 200 jobs for SN at the press conference last week. LH holding to it's Indian backyard, it could be one of the signs that SN will be taken into account ? It's to see with bilaterals rights allocated to different airlines/countries. I assu...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Thanks to everybody caring to answer my "panicky train of thoughts" :) I get your point (Inquirer, good post) but I tell myself we didn't read the same ... Please could any of you show me an official statement stipulating the perennity of SN as a separate entity ? Of course they guarantee ...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
As I didn't know, I asked: Brussels Airlines confirmed to me that it would remain a member of Star Alliance after integration into Eurowings. Thank you .. however we would certainly appreciate an official commitment on this particular point ... I assume it's just during the transition period ? Beca...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Once the merger is done, LH has responsability for the whole of what was SN. SN can still run their current fleet but any a/c acquisition is obviuosly submitted to LH mgt board approval. I also think the A330-900 (neo) would be suited. But the ceo'last iteration is quite good also for sn"s curr...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
@bralo20 Thank you for your informative response on my last point. Indeed, it would not make sense to fix a rigid investment plan of that sort from the start. BTW I suppose you mean SFX would be the "odd bird" (ie more recent and RR powered) ? @teach Sorry to disagree, when your company is...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Of course they will not transfer SAfrica to bru. It is in the hands of sn's management to prove sAfrica is doable ALSO from bru. And other markets too ! But some silences are deafening ... Not a single word was mentioned about the Star alliance membership. I wonder what Gustin and Davignon were up t...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
I was browsing through airliners.net to find some clues regarding sn's star alliance membership prospects under the (hostile?) EW takeover because this membership is so obviously vital to sn's l/h future operations and Bru future development. Only post I found on that topic, I want to share with you...

Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines
Code sharing on some routes with some carriers is one thing... Being a full alliance member is another thing.
It's like being inside the EU vs outside , UK having to negociate parallel deals without much bargaining power.
