Re: Brussels region noise regulation
You seem to be adamant on closing the airport, at least at night, without offering any real alternatives. Like I said, during nighttime SIDs are adjusted, Line-up positions are adjusted, the number of taxiing aircraft is restricted,... all to provide better living conditions for the neighbours of th...

Re: Brussels region noise regulation
Why should it be closed at night? DHL have done, and are doing, huge investments in the airport, to name just one stakeholder. No matter where that traffic moves, there will always be people complaining. Older, noisy aircraft are being replaced by newer, fuel efficient and especially less noisy airc...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
There have been rumors that ATCOs and unions asked additional fees. Amounts from 40,000 to 60,000 euros extra are mentioned. Is that correct, Phoenixx? That sounds far from realistic, since not a single ATCO is asking for a raise/extra pay/monetary gain. All that’s asked is a structural and realist...

Re: The one and only topic on which runway in use @EBBR
Wind aloft is also taken into account for runway selection.
Even though surface wind may be fine, if multiple pilots complain about unfavourable winds higher up, runway configuration can be switched as well.
On top of that, there’s also the capacity to take into account.

I’d wager it’s more likely the other way around. Doubts exist whether SN will keep on existing at all. EW isn’t exactly doing well, and since SN will be integrated into that group, who knows what will happen if it goes belly up.
Big if, of course.

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
So you’re discounting the approach frequency then? 15 aircraft, though not often, does happen there. And I wouldn’t exactly call ground or tower control calm. It’s a different way of working, sure, but that in itself doesn’t make it any less demanding or complex. I did not say you haven’t got a clue...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
I’m sorry mvg, but you obviously don’t know what our job entails. Having 10,15 or 20 aircraft on frequency is not tiring, it’s demanding, you thrive from it. The tiring, fatiguing part is having only two aircraft on frequency still light years away from each other. We’ve gone through the amount of h...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
So 25% of your employees is a tiny minority? In that case every group of employees is a tiny minority for whom the rules shouldn’t necessarily be followed, as longs as it benefits the end result. 25% is not tiny, nor is it a minority. It’s not “25% against the rest”, it’s 25% of the total employee c...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions
ACOD represents hardly any ATCOs, hence the disgruntlement. ACV and VSOA, representing the vast majority of the ATCOs, did not agree with the terms set out in the proposal, since it contained hardly any, if any, of the demands made.

Let’s call things what they are: they are threatened by a lack of staffing at skeyes, not by the rather limited strikes over a month ago.

I seem to recall it being due to closure of Sudanese airspace following a military coup.

There are no restrictions on V1, except 747-8 and A380. Of course, some pilots prefer not to use V1 due to its narrowness, but that’s pilot’s discretion.Homo Aeroportus wrote: ↑31 Mar 2019, 11:57
Not sure you could vacate via C1 as you'd need to use TWY V1 which is only 20m wide.

To confirm, is there an Osprey on the ramp at LGG? If so, any clue as to when it will leave again?

Re: Diversions from around the globe (medical, technical, ...) 2019
It would more than likely be cheaper, easier, faster and more efficient for LH to arrange a new crew and aircraft by the time the old one touches down at FRA, than it would be to get the passengers on a bunch of other flights again from DXB. They have their own spares and maintenance personnel in FR...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2019
There’s a maximum of 189 seats on a 737-800. That doesn’t mean the maximum passenger capacity is 189, though. You can still put an infant on the lap of an adult. In fact, dependant on configuration, the maximum number of passengers, including infants, on board could theoretically be somewhere close ...
