Re: Flights cancelled due to volcanic ash cloud from Iceland
KLM safely completed a test-flight with a B737 at 41000ft an hour ago and are checking the aircraft right now.. Look, it hasn't been said loudly yet, because safety has always been the main concern of airlines allover the EU, and a volcanic ash clould over Europe is a rare event indeed nobody has m...

Re: Maastricht-Aachen Airport (MAA) Down Under?
I'm not sure MST helped LGG to grow in any way ... Sure they did. We have to go back in history. The 'Dutch' Province of Limburg kicked out the 'little green' nightly Cargo haulers first, which diverted to LGG  I think, MAA missed the 'freight' train many many years ago ;) And completely c...

Re: 2010 Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Just 2 questions: -Are you a pilot or a technician? (no offense, but your explanations seems quite strange) -What is a late landing? :) Concerning the brake fan, I hope you're joking, nobody would put water on a brake assembly of a 747 to cool donw, unless it's on fire. And the brake fans are worki...

Re: 2010 Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Regarding your exemple TAZ,you say that there's a braking issue in the case of an aircraft landing at MLW @ MST, Is it just because they have to delay the next TO because the brakes are too hot ? or when OAT is too high the brakes overpass their max limit temperature during the landing itself? I'm ...

Re: 2010 Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
Thanks for your message TAZ, We can understand from your answer that the 747's are limited during summer time in LGG due to high Outside Air Temperature, meaning that the limitation is the TOD(Take Off Distance) or the ASD(Accelerate-Stop distance),The 747-200 will probably benefit the most from thi...

Re: 2010 Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
He wants to know why a full 747 both with cargo and fuel can not take off at LGG then... Well let me try to answer it, the simple way: Every A/C has a maximum structural take off weight MTOW called. MTOW although can be limited by several factors. 1)Temperature: the lower the temperature, the...

Re: Charges/incentive in LGG
it's an average from official schedule or atc logs it can be wrong ... as you say, it's not so important ... One last remark in this Acid, don't believe the official published schedule. Certainly the avient one is after the MD11 crash not up to date anymore. EL AL published schedule seems also inco...

Re: Charges/incentive in LGG
The number of weekly jumbo is rather a useless unrepresentative number, but since you have started, I may correct : This is taken from january flows, which are lower than nov/dec for ex. It shows real numbers from official schedule when possible Per week : 10 X EL AL (could be more) 10 X ETH 747 (o...

Re: Charges/incentive in LGG
To Filou: Filou yes I am a dutchman, but working at LGG. And I trust, there is some truth in what you say, but...... It's almost impossible as an Airport to give free import handling and trucking to a company to there old airports, because 200.000-300.000 euro's especially with MAS will not be enoug...

Re: Charges/incentive in LGG
I must say since i'm reading the "luchtzak" forums I always wonder why there is so much competition between the walloon and flemish part of belgium. It might be that I'm dutch and do not quite understand exactly the feelings between the 2 population groups. But anyhow I have an opinion reg...

Re: Charges/incentive in LGG
I think on average LGG airport has about 50 B747 a week, not that it matters a lot, since tonnage is more important and not what kind of A/C is flying it. I came to my calculation with these figures: all on average: 1 X EL AL a day 1 X ETH( operated by Southern) 1 X CAL 1 X TNT 2 X Kallita 1 x chart...

Re: Liège Airport (LGG) latest news
But is the handling company not responsible for the fuel prices on an airport? A handling company has no influence on the fuelprices. The Handling company only benefits from lower fuelprices, because it could atract more customers. Fuelcompany's themselves make the prices, sometimes in direct negot...

Re: Emergency landing of Ryanair plane at Limoges: 16 injured
In case of a decompression at high altitudes, crews will focus on reastablishing a survivable atmosphere to human life. I am very sorry to say, but announcements to comfort passangers and reasure them are probably a lower priority item compared to descending to an altitude where oxygen concentratio...

Re: Aviapartner strike @ Brussels Airport (and Flightcare too)
My opinion, I think the strikers made there point, its clear now to Aviapartner management that the situation as it is now cant continue. But realise also that this cant be solved in days, going from 3 to 5 persons a shift isnt accomplished in a few days I would suggest to the strikers to start work...
