Actually i don't know if it'll work, but i think this could be some innovative thing in contrail spotting better idea is to buy a TeleVue Barlow...(2'' diametere obviously)

The difference between a pretty good barlow (televue) or a cheap one (soligor) is really evident, especially if you use the barlow for taking because because it's known that human eye can't see all image's imperfections like you do when you take a picture. Well first thing to get good shots is to collimate perfectly your scope so if you're not able you have to learn how to collimate a newtonian scope.
