Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Okay, that says enough. If NCB has no better reply he has to give up this idea and the case is closed. No turbo props to replace A320 series, B737 or Avro's. Thank you for the swift reply. I have a better reply to give. 134flyer's testimony is totally irrelevant because he is speaking of his experi...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
OK, we have to look into the feasabilty of turbo prop feeders. We all sat in ATR, Saab, Fokkers and similar turbo prop feeders. But is there here a member who flew in a similar turbo prop for a longer distance than the usual +- 1 hour connection? To quote myself: I myself was once on a two and a ha...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
The Q400 cabin is 23cm narrower and 5cm less tall, 57cm less long compared to the E170. There is almost no difference 23cm narrower and 5cm less tall; in an environment where every cm counts, I would rather call this a substantial difference... But hey, feel free to create your own company with 40 ...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
they already made up their mind. they (the big guys) already know what the replacement is In the same interview Gustin said that a 30 aircraft order is quite big for SN, but they could e.g. 'piggyback' if LH places an order for 300 aircraft... Don't there need some B737's at LH and F70/100's at OS ...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Guys, do you think a combination of MRJs (to replace the Avrojets) and C Series (to replace the A319/B737) would stand a chance or would be an acceptable or even good idea ?. I will agree with NCB on one point : on "paper" (for me that's internet) the MRJs look very promising as do the C ...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
When are they (SN) supposed to reveal the Avro RJ & Boeing 737 fleet renewal? The RJ replacement order would be placed end 2010 or early 2011 they said past summer. Earlier this year Gustin said in an interview that SN will hopefully (internally) have made up their mind by the end of this year,...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
I just think it's pointless to react to someone who does not take part in a discussion, but states that we are all stupid, including all airline managers except Flybe's, and that he's a flawless genious.Let's go back to our discussion forum. Yes, you are absolutely right! But to quote yourself, it ...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
Comfort is one thing but an airline first looks at CASM and efficiency. We're on the eve of emissions trading in Europe. Also, if you understood what I wrote, you shall have realised that I wrote some about lower yields. Price is what matters most to today's customers Hmmm, and who wanted to put Fi...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet
if i ask people who went on holiday with what aircraft they've flown they don't know, they don't even know if its a jet or a prop and to be honest these days a jet isn't that much comfortable either for economy pax. Maybe true for people who go once or twice a year on holiday, who mostly aren't air...

Indeed, although Mayrhuber meant LH mainline (A319/320/321 & B737). Anyway, the Avro's will luckily being replaced by (mostly) the EMB195!sn26567 wrote:... even in the Avro, which makes the seats very narrow!134flyer wrote:'LH short-haul consists of 6 seats a row in Y'

Re: Lufthansa to upgrade shorthaul product
Also, regarding short-haul LH Business Class; last week the German newspaper Handelsblatt had an interview with LH CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber, as he was awarded 'European Manager of the Year 2010' by the European Business Press, the association of Europe’s leading finance and economics newspapers and ma...

Re: LH aggressively promotes Africa
So it's official now, LH will start flying to PNR:: At the start of the winter flight schedules, Lufthansa is to begin serving a new destination in Africa. From 3 November, the airline is laying on five flights weekly to Pointe Noire, the principal port in the Republic of the Congo, pending regulato...

Re: 5th A330 for Brussels Airlines
When do arrive this aircraft ? Before the 5th of July ? Or not ? It should certainly arrive before the 5th of July, this is when the extra AFI flights start. They will have a massive problem for sure if it's not here by then... Has the cabin interior already been installed, or does that stil...

Re: LH aggressively promotes Africa
I agree that the only way to act at the moment is to do as if LH would just remain a 45% shareholder. But waiting three years to add an A330 to the fleet to expand in Africa when all indicators showed this market remained stable during the crisis and Africa flights kept the airline from going steep...

Re: LH aggressively promotes Africa
Delta currently remains the only major American carrier to operate services between Africa and the US. The Star Alliance still needs stopovers in Europe. This might be good for Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa, but they might give ground to Skyteam if they don't react to Delta's latest move. On 20 J...

Re: LH aggressively promotes Africa
i still think AF has the advantage thx to partner DL Well, LH now has CO as a partner (IAH hub: oil industry) As to the shortage of seats to/from PNR, read the article already posted earlier, and especially its second but last paragraph. http://archives.californiaaviation.org/airport/msg35513.html ...
