Today the Belgian Air Component (Dutch: Luchtcomponent, French: Composante air) retired CM-02, a Dassault Falcon 20E-5 VIP aircraft transporting the Royal Family, ministers and other important leaders of the army and the government for 43 years.

Last year CM-01 retired (Read: The army retires an aircraft for which it cannot pay the heavy maintenance), now it’s this “Mystère 20″‘s turn after 16210 hours of flying.

  1. The very first flights between Brussels and Lyon in the 1970s were operated by Air France with a similar Mystère 20. Twelve passenger seats, and no stewardess: the copilot was serving the meal, as I experimented personally!
