Airport site to host pilot project with driverless shuttle

Would it be possible to use driverless shuttle buses to transport people on the airport site 24/7?

To find out, Flemish public bus company De Lijn and Brussels Airport Company are setting up a pilot project on and in the vicinity of Brussels Airport.

A self-driving shuttle bus could considerably increase bus services in places where this is otherwise not feasible financially. Moreover, the technology can also be used to assist drivers in terms of traffic safety.

The first (self-driving) buses are expected to be operational by 2018.
