A debut at Munich Airport: the British regional carrier flybe is offering its first-ever service from Munich Airport. Effective immediately, the new arrival will fly five times a week to Cardiff, where such singing superstars as Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey launched their careers.

On the new route, flybe will operate modern Embraer 190 jets, taking just two hours to fly from Munich to “the green, green grass of home,” as Tom Jones once sang. To mark flybe’s inaugural flight, Martin Laubenthal (l.), Munich Airport’s airline liaison manager, presented the crew with traditional gingerbread hearts and beer steins.
