On 1 December 2015, Air France celebrates 75 years of uninterrupted presence in Abidjan.

To celebrate this anniversary, Alexandre de Juniac, Chairman and CEO of Air France-KLM, is visiting Abidjan. His presence in Côte d’Ivoire, a key market for Air France-KLM, illustrates the Group’s involvement in the country’s economic development, and also promotes Air France and Paris as a destination with the entire African market.

“We are very proud to be here in Abidjan to celebrate 75 years of Air France presence here with the people of Côte d’Ivoire. I would also like to support our teams in the country, and more widely in Africa, in this very difficult international context. This is also an opportunity to reaffirm that Air France will continue to fly the French flag to all continents, while providing its customers and staff with the highest standards of safety and security”, said Alexandre de Juniac.

The best of Air France to Abidjan

So much has been achieved since that day on 20 October 1940 when for the very first time, a Dewoitine flew from Bamako to Abidjan.

From 13 January 2016, Air France customers will be able to benefit from the Boeing 777 between Abidjan and Paris, progressively equipped with the new travel cabins. On board these cabins, passengers will benefit from designer suites in the La Première cabin, a cocoon in the sky in Business and redesigned seats in Premium Economy and Economy. Furthermore, the Airbus A380, the largest aircraft in the Company’s long-haul fleet, also connects the two cities for optimal travel comfort.

With seven weekly frequencies between Abidjan and Paris, the most advanced aircraft, the latest generation cabins, as well as made-to-measure services for African customers, Air France aims to provide its customers with the best global services.

Air France-KLM, a vast network in Africa

With a strong presence in Africa, the Air France-KLM Group offers flights to 46 destinations this winter to the African continent. There are up to 415 weekly flights operated by Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Transavia. Furthermore, thanks to strategic partnerships with Air Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya Airways, Comair and kulula.com, the Group offers even more connecting opportunities and destinations on the African continent.
