Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced it will bring its low fares to Montenegro, now the 39th country in the WIZZ network, with two new routes from Podgorica beginning in August.

Wizz Air will offer flights from Podgorica to Milan Bergamo starting 20 August and to Munich Memmingen starting 21 August. Both routes will operate twice a week and tickets are on sale now at wizzair.com starting at only €24.99*.

Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital and largest city, is famous for its café and nightlife culture, museums and galleries. It is also centrally located between ski areas to the north and seaside resorts along the Adriatic Sea. One of its newest landmarks has become its most iconic – the famed Millennium Bridge finished in 2005.

Wizz Air continues to grow in Central and Eastern Europe, carrying more than 20 million passengers in the last 12 months. In October 2015, just over 11 years since beginning operations, Wizz Air celebrated carrying its 100 millionth passenger, one of the youngest airlines to reach that mark. Wizz Air added four new bases in 2015 – Tuzla (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Debrecen (Hungary), Kosice (Slovakia) and Lublin (Poland), and announced three more to open later this year in Iasi and Sibiu (Romania), and Kutaisi (Georgia).

John Stephenson, Executive Vice President, Wizz Air said: “We are very excited to bring WIZZ low fares to Podgorica, connecting with popular Italian and German regions. This not only provides low-fare services for leisure and business travelers from Montenegro going west, it provides great fares for travelers coming east to discover the food, culture, biodiversity and stunning vistas in Montenegro.

“Wizz Air’s story is one of growth, for not only the airline, but for the communities throughout Central and Eastern Europe where we fly. Affordable air travel spurs business and economic activities as well as stimulates more people to fly, and that translates to local jobs in tourism and hospitality. We are very excited to be adding Podgorica to the Wizz Air community.”

Olivera Brajovic, General Director for Tourism Development and Standards, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, said:We are very satisfied that Wizz Air will start its flights to and from Montenegro and connect Montenegro with the important tourist generating markets – for the beginning Germany and Italy. This is a great opportunity for tourists from these regions to visit Montenegro on a direct flight at favorable fares. In this manner, Montenegro will come closer to tourists, whether it is about those who come for entertainment and rest or for business. This is also an opportunity for local citizens to travel at reasonable prices. We are sure that this is just the beginning of good cooperation and that in the coming period we will work jointly on further expansion.”

Milovan ?uri?kovi?, Director of Airports of Montenegro, said:Airports of Montenegro are pleased that this summer, among our partners also will be Wizz Air. We hope for a successful cooperation which will contribute to better air availability of Montenegro, and also to a larger number of tourists who will come via Wizz Air to our country.”
