Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, now connects Berlin Schönefeld with Lviv in West Ukraine. Flights will depart every Wednesday and Sunday, at 11.15 am, where passengers can reach the picturesque city, close to the Carpathian Mountains, in just an hour and a half. Lviv is Wizz Air’s sixth destination from Berlin. In March 2016, the airline began its operations from Schönefeld, extending its connections to Skopje in Macedonia, Cluj-Napoca in Romania, Kutaisi in Georgia, Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Chi?in?u in the Republic of Moldova. All routes are serviced with Airbus A320 aircraft.

Lviv – world heritage at the foot of the Carpathians

Founded in 1256, at an intersection between East and West, the city has been a home to various ethnicities throughout the centuries. Languages, such as Polish, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Armenian, Yiddish and Austrian German were all spoken at some point. The eventful history of Lviv, that was largely spared the destruction of the Second World War, can be seen in the city’s architecture. For this reason, the city’s historical centre exhibits the enclosed building development of not only the Renaissance, but also Baroque, Neoclassicism, Historicism, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and is a UNESCO world heritage site. Today, tourists, business travellers and, in particular, the many students bring the city – at the foot of the Carpathians and in 2012 host to the UEFA European championship – to life.
