German carrier TUIfly has cancelled nearly all of its Friday flights as flight crew called in sick “on short notice”.
- around 9000 passengers affected
- about 98 flights cancelled
- rising concerns over future of the company
The major crew call-off started on Wednesday, where German Air Berlin announced it would start talking with TUI and Etihad (Abu Dhabi) on a possible merging with TUIfly.
Air Berlin crew were urged to work extra hours as TUIfly staff call in sick.
