Yesterday luchtzak.be already reported that TUI fly Belgium will operate a brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 as from January 2018, the first flight will head for Tenerife. Today we have some more information.

Since 2013 TUI group has ordered 70 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, TUI fly Belgium will be the first airline in the TUI group to operate the Boeing 737 MAX 8. In 2018 TUI fly Belgium will receive a total of 4 new MAX aircaft. Over the next 4 years they will receive a total of 19 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Preparations are already in full swing. Technically there is little difference: current 737 pilots need only attend one day training to fly the MAX. Cabin crew also will have to follow some extra training. The impact is greatest in the field of engineering and operations. The aircraft has new engines – the LEAP-1B CFM – and other systems.
