Higher customer focus means strong and continuing growth for TAP: the airline has reached 1.167.632 passengers in April (+ 35%)

According to the traffic results reported for last month, TAP has posted a 35 per cent growth in the number of passengers carried in its system-wide network, comparing to the same month in the previous year, having reached a total of 1.167.632 passengers, 302.475 more than in April 2016.

In continental traffic, the highlight goes to European destinations, where TAP has registered this month 182.331 more passengers than the previous year, an increase of 33,1 per cent. Of these destinations, Spain and Belgium have the best results.

To Spanish destinations, TAP has carried in April 134 thousand passengers, 70,1 per cent more passengers than the same month last year, having offered 18,8 per cent more seats. To Belgium, the Airline has verified an increase of 139,5 per cent on the number of passengers carried, which is also related to an increase of 125,9 per cent on the number of seats offered.

Among intercontinental destinations, Africa is one of the highlights, with 80 thousand passengers carried and a global growth of 57,1 per cent comparing to April 2016. Of particular note is Morocco, where TAP has carried 265,9 per cent more passengers than in the previous year, also offering 160 per cent more seats.

Also in intercontinental destinations, the north-American market has registered an increase of 130,4 per cent in seats offered, as well as of 173,8 per cent in the number of passengers carried to destinations in North Atlantic, comparting to April 2016. This is a very significant growth, with a total of 58 thousand passengers carried, and related among other factors to the new flights to New York – JFK and Boston.

In regards to Brazil, the signs of recovery are very clear, with TAP carrying 21 thousand passengers more comparing to the same month last year, in a total of 117 thousand in all Brazilian routes, 22 per cent more than in April 2017.

The load factor also has very good results, having reached 85,4 per cent in all the network, some 12,4 p.p. above the same month in 2016.

The Lisbon/Porto route – Ponte Aérea has once again registered positive results, having carried 6.926 more passengers than last year, which means an increase of 13,5 per cent.
