On 1 February, a SWISS Boeing 777 (registered HB-JND) operating a flight from Zurich, Switzerland to Los Angeles, United States had to make an unforeseen landing at Iqaluit, Canada after the aircraft’s left engine shut down.
In a statement SWISS reported that due to the malfunctioning of the engine the pilots decided to divert to and landed safely at Iqaluit airport in Canada.
An Airbus A330 has been flown to Iqaluit to pick up the stranded passengers and is currently flying to New York, where the passengers can resume their travel towards their friends and relatives.
