During a speech on a gala ball to celebrate the inaugural flight between Doha and Dublin, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker wasn’t that friendly for American carriers and their flight attendants.
First the CEO mentioned all the new Qatar Airways destinations and talked about 3000 entertainment options, Boeing 787 Dreamliners, high-speed internet connections, award-winning services and plenty of legroom. After 45 seconds into the speech he proudly announced the average age of his flight attendants -26 years of age btw- and continued with:
There is no need for you to travel on this crap American carriers. As a business class passenger you know you are always being served by grandmothers at American carriers.
After the well-appreciated jokes the Qatar Airways CEO continued to brag about his airline, but I stopped listening 😉
Certainly these little sidejokes will not improve the current battle between the ME3 carriers (Emirates – Qatar Airways – Etihad) and the US carriers (video: Delta Air Lines on Gulf carrier subsidies).
