A very special frequent flyer story
Frequent Traveller, Senator, Hon Circle Member – flying a lot and earning airmiles for doing so is no longer a big thing or anything special – not now in the era of global economic and business relationships and worldwide airline alliances.
Quite unlike the very special frequent flyer story that started 60 years ago when, in 1956, a young woman migrated to the United States, leaving her nieces and nephews behind in Germany.
But even in the New World on the other side of the Atlantic, she found she could not do completely without her family. So visits home ensued, at least once a year for 60 years. And always with the same airline: Lufthansa.
Be honest: Who can claim that he or she has flown only with Lufthansa between the United States and Germany for 60 years? Elisabeth Arenz celebrated her 90th birthday in March and is still fighting fit, as her nephew, who is already looking forward to her annual visit, assured us. But why has she always flown Lufthansa? “Because they’re the best,” replied the lady simply. Welcome on board!
