Eurowings extends its offering to holidaymakers: new destinations from Cologne/Bonn, Hanover and Vienna

Flight schedule expands to take in Karpathos, Santorini and Cagliari

More choice from Cologne/Bonn, Hanover and Vienna. Eurowings is working consistently on further expansion of the route network so as to offer passengers further attractive options for their holidays. Three new routes from Cologne/Bonn, Hanover and Vienna will complete the offering of the quality low-cost carrier from the Lufthansa Group in the summer 2017 flight schedule. As of Monday, 6 February 2017, all new flights can be booked on the Internet at www.eurowings.com or via the Eurowings app.

Flights between Cologne/Bonn and the Greek island of Karpathos are new to the route network. They will be available every Monday from 5 June 2017. Eurowings will take off for Greece at 4.35 with the return flight leaving the island at 9.35 local time and touching down again in the Rhineland at 12.20. Karpathos is the second largest of the Dodecanese islands after Rhodes and its main town is Karpathos, formerly also known as Pigadia. As the tourist offering grows, places such as Lefkos on the west coast, Amopi and Arkasa in the south and Kyra Panagia on the east coast are becoming increasingly important. The southern part of the island is very popular with windsurfers due to its good wind statistics and wind strength. A speed windsurfing competition is held in Devil’s Bay every year in August.

As of 5 May 2017, Eurowings will also offer a new flight connection between Vienna and the Greek island of Santorini. An Airbus A320 will take off from Vienna on Thursdays and Sundays at 6.35 (Sunday) or 12.15 (Thursday). The Sunday flight back to Vienna will take off at 10.40 with the Thursday flight leaving the Greek island at 16.20. Santorini is approximately 100 kilometres from Crete in the south of the Cyclades islands. The volcanic island is not only a popular stopping point for cruise ships but is also very popular with individual travellers. The island is particularly noted for its Greek hospitality and rich culinary offerings. In addition to the larger hotels on the island’s flat beaches, Santorini also has many smaller hotels and guest houses.

On 21 May 2017, Eurowings will also launch a new holiday connection from Hanover, offering a flight to Cagliari on Sardinia every Sunday. The quality low-cost airline will take off from Hanover at 12.00 with the return flight from Cagliari airport scheduled for 15.25. Cagliari, the largest city and capital of Sardinia, is located in the south of the island. The old “Castello” or castle district located on top of a hill is a particularly impressive sight in this seaport. The historic city centre is characterised by dark, narrow streets, magnificent façades and a view over the entire Gulf of Cagliari. The towers of the former fortification, which are still accessible today, are also located here. The Bastione di San Remy is certainly worth a visit. The classical square can be reached via a huge marble staircase or a lift and markets and concerts are held on the popular viewing terrace. The hill known as Monte Urpinu also offers a magnificent view over the city and out towards the sea. And no trip would be complete without a visit to the Poetto beach which extends for several kilometres beside the turquoise sea with its fine sand and numerous beach-side bars.
