Austrian Airlines carried almost 2.2 million passengers in the period January to March 2017, comprising a rise of 6.6 percent in a year-on-year comparison. This increase is mainly due to the expanded bilateral flight traffic between Austria and Germany. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) was increased by 3.3 percent to more than five billion. On balance, Austrian Airlines sold close to 3.5 billion revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), corresponding to a slight decrease of 0.5 percent from the previous year. The positive trend with respect to passenger volume also applies to the month of March 2017: Austria’s red-white-red carrier transported round 880,000 passengers, equaling a growth of 7.9 percent from March 2016. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was increased by four percent to more than 1.9 billion. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) went down 1.6 percent to more than 1.3 billion. The number of flights climbed by 5.3 percent in March 2017 to 11,318 flights. This means that Austrian Airlines carried an average of 28,474 passengers on around 365 flights per day in March.
