Iberia extends code sharing with airberlin to cover new destinations

Iberia will start its flights to Hamburg on 30 March

Iberia will offer airberlin flights from Malaga and Alicante in Spain to Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Munich, Hamburg, and Stuttgart in Germany, and also to Zurich, and Vienna under its flight code.
Additionally, Iberia will add its code to flights by Austria’s NIKI Airlines between Valencia and Vienna.
Meanwhile, airberlin will attach its code to Iberia Group flights between Madrid and Hamburg, a new Iberia route to be launched on 30 March, plus Madrid-Hanover and Madrid-Stuttgart, operated by Iberia Express.
Neil Chernoff, Iberia’s flight Network Development and Alliances director, commented “Germany is one of Iberia’s most important markets in Europe and the extension of our code shares with airberlin boost our presence in that country, as well as in Austria and Switzerland. The agreement attests to our commitment to widen the network of destinations we can offer our customers”.
Stephan Nagel, Senior Vice President Alliances & Cooperation at airberlin says: “The expansion of the codeshare agreement with our oneworld® partner Iberia is an important milestone in our partnership strengthening our market position to Spain. In cooperation with Iberia we are now able to offer our customers more than 450 direct weekly flights between 11 cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and 5 destinations on the Spanish Mainland.”

The Iberia Group currently operates 142 flights every week from Madrid to BerlinDusseldorfFrankfurtHanoverMunich and Stuttgart. In March it will launch a new service to Hamburg and will double the number of Berlin flights, as well as adding two new weekly Stuttgart flights.
